Dear Mary,
Hi! It was great to hear from you again. I hope you passed all your tests well. (24)
As for my journey to Italy, it was really terrific! You know, it was the first time I’ve gone abroad. I visited such cities as Rome, Naples, Venice and Florence. I enjoyed masterpieces by Michelangelo, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci in the Uffizi Gallery. In Vatican City I visited St. Peter’s Basilica which is the largest Christian church in the world. But Venice with its canals and beautiful bridges impressed me most of all! (98)
The rooms in the hotels were small, but the food was delicious. (110)
By the way, are you going to visit your granny in Brighton this summer? What are your plans for August? Can you come to visit us? (136)
Keep in touch.
Love,
Rita (141)

Dear Bill,
Thank you for your letter. Hope you are getting well these days.
In your letter you asked me about my future profession. Well, I want to be a computer programmer. My favourite subjects are Maths, English and Computer Science. Also, my hobby is playing computer games and computer programming.
I think this profession gives many opportunities. We live in the age of information technologies and computers are used in every sphere of our life. I use my computer for receiving information, making friends, chatting, writing essays, letters and reports. So, I’m sure I’ll never regret my decision.
By the way, which country do you want to go first? Would you like to visit Russia? Are you going to travel with your friends or parents?
Write me soon.
Love,
Sasha (135)

Dear John,
Thanks for your letter. It was great to hear from you again! (17)
It’s a pity you don’t get on well with your parents. Sometimes parents don’t understand us. (33)
As for me, I almost have no problems with my mum. Sometimes we argue about my clothing style. But we always try to find the way out peacefully. (61) (As for me, I like piercing but my mum can’t stand it at all. She thinks it’s very dangerous. Anyway, we try to settle all the problems peacefully. 61)
To tell the truth, I’m very busy at school now that’s why I can meet my friends only at weekends. We usually go for a walk to the park near the river, take pictures and discuss the latest news. (100)
Well, you are so lucky to have a sister. By the way, do you help her with her homework? You don’t quarrel with her, do you? How often do you give her advice? (134)
Keep in touch!
Best wishes,
Helen (140)

I was glad to receive a letter from you. Thanks for it. (20)
I’m very sorry you don’t get on well with your parents. (31)
As for me, I always stick to my laptop communicating online with my friends on social networks. That makes my mum really angry. So, I try to surf the Internet when she is at work. (66)
You know, I’m fond of football so my friends and I play it at the stadium every other day. Also, we go cycling when the weather is fine. (94)
Well, I have a younger sister, too. By the way, has your sister ever told you her secrets? How often do you spend your free time together? Do you allow her to borrow your things? (129)
I’d better go now as I have to do my homework.
Best wishes,
Nikita (143)

Have you got any plans for the summer? I was thinking of going to a language school in the UK to improve my English. It would be a lot more fun if we went together. What do you think?
Anyway, I have to go now as I’m helping my Dad in the shop.
Hope to hear from you soon.
All the best,
Kerstin
